Bhutanese lining up to get Darshan of the deity at the Venkateshwara Temple, Riverdale, GA.
Much singing...
And some dancing!
Gurudev His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar says that Life is a play and display of consciousness... To add my humble contribution, isn't photography a play and display of light, the eternal Leela of Light?

Onam is celebrated in Kerala as the day when Mahabali, the benevolent king visits his land and meets the people. We had a mini-celebration in Atlanta ourselves. Pics below.
The Kaikottikali dancers enjoying a moment before the dance begins...
The Sadya (a traditional celebration would have more items)
A pile of pappadums that Mom fried up for the Sadya...
So we visited Washington DC this Labor Day weekend with Mom and Dad. Walked around National Mall, went up the Washington Monument, marveled at the amazing buildings, ate some wonderful and not-so-wonderful food.
We undertook a trip to South India in 2007. Traversed through many cities, prayed at so many temples, breathed in the peace and calm, and marveled at the structures that stood proudly through the ages, sustained by the strength of faith...
Our good friends J & J bought a house recently. Some pictures from the Grihapravesh last weekend. Nothing compares to the sheer beauty of a Pooja. Flowers in gorgeous colors and fragrances, scent of incense and dhoop, delicious food to serve as an offering - reminded me of our Grihapravesh a few years back. Alas, there was no one to take any pictures that day... :(
A picture from the Refugee Self Empowerment and Integration program that we conducted for the Bhutanese refugee community in Atlanta.
Vikram Seth's lovely poem comes to mind...
All you who sleep tonight
All you who sleep tonight
Far from the ones you love,
No hand to left or right
And emptiness above -
Know that you aren't alone
The whole world shares your tears,
Some for two nights or one,
And some for all their years.
